The chapel was a clandestine church during the Reformation, and thus it's entrance was hidden from the public eye. It stands inside a courtyard surrounded by homes that would have been made available to widows or unmarried elderly women.
Directly across from the chapel is an English reformed church. The Catholic chapel is dedicated to Sts. John and Ursula.
