Exploring Pallazo Vecchio: Florence's Iconic Civil Landmark
The imposing Palazzo Vecchio, overlooking Piazza della Signoria, is one of Florence's most iconic landmarks, located next to the Uffizi Gallery. Built in the early 1300s, it has always housed the city government and was expanded by Giorgio Vasari under Cosimo I de'Medici. Visitors can climb the tower for panoramic city views.
Today, it serves as both the mayor's office and a splendid museum offering tours of the Monumental Quarters and Secret Passages.
