Sanctuary of the Vision
6 Via Sant'Antonio Camposampiero
The Sanctuary of the Vision (Santuario della Visione) in Camposampiero, near Padua, is built on the spot where Saint Anthony had a powerful vision of the Christ Child. According to tradition, Count Tiso saw Saint Anthony surrounded by a bright light, holding the Infant Jesus in his arms.
Saint Anthony, a Franciscan friar, lived in the original building on this site. Over time, the church was partly destroyed in 1798 when the French government closed many religious sites during Napoleon’s rule. In 1803, the buildings were sold to the Allegri family, who began restoring them. Roughly 90 years later, in 1895, the Franciscan friars returned and restored both the church and the convent.
