A Masterpiece by Giotto

The Scrovegni Chapel is one of the most important places to see early Renaissance art up close. Inside, the walls are covered with stunning frescoes by Giotto, painted around 1305.

The Scrovegni Chapel is part of the Civic Museums of Padua. The complex also includes the Eremitani Museum, which houses archaeological finds and artworks from the Middle Ages, and Palazzo Zuckermann, which features the Bottacin Museum collection. The chapel has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside, its walls are covered with paintings that depict the story of the History of Salvation. The chapel was partly built as an act of repentance — his family made money through usury (charging interest on loans), which was considered a serious sin at the time.
