Titular and Minor Basilica Hosting the Relics of St. Bartholomew the Apostle and Martyr

Hours & Mass Times

Built in the year 998 on the orders of Otto III, Holy Roman Emoperor, atop the ruins of an ancient Roman temple termed the Temple of Aesculapius. Emperor Otto II built the church to honor his martyred friend St. Adalbert of Praque. Later, Emperor Otto III would enshrine the relics of other saints he had collected.

These saints would be joined by the major relics of St. Bartholomew Apostle and Martyr and would be rededicated to St. Bartholomew.

In the crypt, one can find a memorial dedicated to the New Martyrs of the World, housing relics of those who gave their lives for the faith.
